Neighbors Forever

This outfit is a little different from my previous ones. It was created as an homage to one of my favorite movies of all time, My Neighbor Totoro created by Studio Ghibli.



The basic concept of this outfit takes a scene from the movie and turns it into an outfit, but the only hint of the movie itself is the shirt. The little plushies in the image above were just added for effect and are not a necessary part of the outfit.

Anyway, in the scene it is raining and the two main characters are standing at a bus stop waiting for their dad when they have an encounter with the mysterious guardian of the forest, Totoro. During the scene they give Totoro their umbrella because he didn't have one and was getting rained on.

So the idea was to build an iconic rainy day outfit around that scene. It's a pretty basic outfit and could be worn with any shirt and no one would think anything of it, but with that particular shirt it becomes something more.
